It was January 30, 1958 and the New York Herald Tribune wrote about his first collection:
"No one has ever done so many tears shed as Yves Saint Lauren,
this was the most exciting fashion party of all time".
He was only 21.
But only in 1962, when fired from the owner of Dior: Marcel Boussac, along with Bergé decided to found his own maison.
The genius of Yves Saint Laurent was now free to rise.
His creations symbol of feminine beauty, they are a blend of fashion and art.
His immense love for art as well as finding him in his wonderful collection of 730 art and paintings by great artists such as Picasso, Andy Warhol, and his great love Modrian, it is found in its collections.
Very famous and always very current sheath dresses are dedicated to the great artist Modrian.
But beyond a multi-faceted creativity, Saint Laurent also had brilliant business acumen, as have understood, once again ahead of his colleagues, so that the ideas of its modern high fashion could, carefully corrected, transformed into an industrial product.
A striking example of his genius is his innovation has been the intuition to transfer some leaders of the female in the male wardrobe: the blazer, the safari jacket, the tuxedo, the trench coat, the leather jacket, the pant-suits.
"The most beautiful makeup for a woman is passion. But cosmetic are easier to buy". YSL |
Her friend and inspiring Catherine Deneuve perfectly summed up his style: "Saint Laurent creates clothes for women who have a double life. The wedding day help them to move safely in a world full of strangers, but instead, for the evening , when they choose with whom to stay, make them feel seductive. "
Her dresses attract not only the art of the great masters, but also the style of the students, the ancient civilizations (evening dresses in style gown that left her breasts uncovered), the ethnic style and retro hippies, and especially the style of exotic countries.
And just in Marrakesh, in the rose garden of the Jardin Majorelle his ashes were scattered.
Saint Laurent was a genius, as Diane Vreeland called it, he was the man who revolutionized the female wardrobe, he was the one who turned his back on "fashion, that is the daughter of fashion", such as the New York Times wrote on the occasion of fashion shows in 1997:
"As the public looks around for something new on the catwalk, Saint Laurent shows us something that is going to last ..."
Just using the words of Saint Laurent:
"Fashion fades, style is eternal."
And his style will remain forever in the history of fashion.
Kiss Kiss
